Applications open for Magic of Materials 2019

Applications are now open for the 2019 Magic of Materials course, organised and run in partnership between IOM3 and St Paul's School, London.  There are 24 places available on this immersive taster course for students aged 14-15 (end of year 10 or equivalent).  Materials play a crucial role in advancing the technology we used all around us and during this course students will have the chance to experience firsthand how scientists and engineers understand our material world.  The lectures and lab classes are all delivered by experts in their field and information on careers will also be provided.  In addtion delegates will be able to work towards a Bronze Crest Award from the British Science Association.  The course starts at 1100 on Monday 08 July and finishes at 1500 on Wedesday 10 July and during the course all accommodation, refreshments and meals are provided. Students stay in the school's boaring house and a full pastoral package is provided. The course is open to state school pupils from all over the UK and in orger to encourage those from further afield or disadvantaged backgrounds to attend we are able to offer a travel bursary of up to £100 to each delegate.
