COVID-19 status update

This page gives the Institute's latest operational position on COVID-19. See also our content hub listing useful information and links we have compiled regarding activities our members and teams are involved in.

Last updated: 10 May 2020

The Prime Minister has stated on 10 May that people should work from home where they can and only people in England who "can't work from home" will be "actively encouraged to go to work"

In line with Government recommendations, since the 16 March 2020, the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) offices are now closes and teams are now working from home where possible and any meetings will take place virtually for the foreseeable future. This will include any board or technical community meetings due to take place.

The Institute will continue to monitor and act on advice from the UK Government regarding precautions on Covid-19 and provide updates as and when the situation changes. The health and safety of our members, clients, delegates, speakers, exhibitors and employees is our top priority. We have therefore already announced the postponement of PVC2020, Rolls6, the Young Persons' Lecture Competition and a range of our training and other events.

We will continue to monitor the situation very closely and will update this page with further information over the coming days.

IOM3 remains operational and you can still contact our team via telephone and email, but please bear with us if our response is sometimes slower than usual. Our contact details can be found here.

A reminder that during these difficult times, the Member's Benevolent Trust exists to support and provide assistance to a person in need who is, or has been for more than two years, a member of IOM3.

Should you wish to rearrange a board or technical community meeting, please contact David.Arthur@iom3.org

If you wish to speak to someone, please contact the Membership department at membership@iom3.org
