Green Volt will also provide electricity to the UK grid.

It consists of 35 floating wind turbines providing up to 560MW of renewable energy capacity and plans to reduce carbon emissions by 1Mt per annum.

This comes after a new emission reduction plan published by the North Sea Transition Authority that focuses on electrification of offshore platforms.

The windfarm is part of the Crown Estate Scotland’s leasing round for offshore wind projects to reduce emissions from oil and gas production and boost further innovation.
