Professor Simon Green - Professor of Planetary and Space Science, Open University

For the first time in the history  of the planet, humans have the potential to prevent a large scale natural disaster. I will describe the potential threat and consequences of asteroid impacts and why we should take action now to be prepared for the next one. I will explain some of the most feasible techniques proposed to deflect potential impactors and plans for space missions to test them.
