Gervais Sawyer, in his editorial, explains
that a new internationally based editorial board has been appointed to
oversee future content. In addition to expanding the authorship and
readership base by actively promoting the journal to research bodies,
universities and materials societies around the world, it is also the
intention to build a briader readership, particularly amongst the
industry. Accordingly, the call for papers now sets a broader range of
acceptable contributions as interest of the wood industry now extends
beyond first utilisation to recycling, remediation and energy. While
the chief contributors will still originate from research work, we do
not want to lose sight of the great value offered by short technical
letters and case studies.
An enormous bank of expertise exists in
industry that is waiting to be shared but many probably assume that
others have greater knowledge that is actually the case. There are many
small observations or techniques waiting to be aired.
new area appearing in the journal will be 'Letters to the Editor'.
Letters that add previously published papers will be particularly
welcome and authors are invited to respond. Ideas for future research
shall be welcome.
