The Past Metallurgist Society Lecture Series

We often use the sentence 'standing on the shoulders of giants' to acknowledge the pioneering contributions of all those whose work underpins today’s progress. However, how often do we know who those giants really are and what their story is? The Past Metallurgist Society will put a name and a face to the giants in metallurgy. On June 24-25, a diverse cohort of academics from all over the world will gather in Cambridge to honour eminent metallurgists from the past through a series of lectures. Each lecture will cover the personal life and scientific accomplishments of these scholars and will highlight the resonance they have had on the current research landscape.
