NMG Lunchtime Seminar Series: Focus on Textiles
You are invited to join us for our monthly virtual event where we will be focusing on Textiles.
The interactive seminar will also provide the opportunity for Questions and Answers and we often hang around at the end for a fun and engaging panel session.
You will hear from:

- Overconsumption and environmental problems such as microplastics need to be considered. What are the potential pathways towards more sustainable materials, where might they come from, and how should they be produced and used?
- Traditional and novel bio-based materials are an important part of the solution.
Prof Kate Goldsworthy - Director of UAL Innovation Lab - University of the Arts London
Designing Circularity with Natural Materials
- The circular textiles economy is progressing at pace and scale with a focus on fibre-to-fibre recycling.
- Cotton and wool textiles represent a large proportion of our waste stream and need very specific handling at end of life.
- This talk will present design approaches to keep these valuable resources in use as long as possible.
Dr Sameer S Rahatekar - Senior Lecturer in Composites and Advanced Materials Research Centre, School of Aerospace, Transport and Manufacturing - Cranfield University
