Volvo hails milestone as three million tonnes of material are hauled autonomously
More than 3Mt of material have been transported autonomously from a Norwegian quarry and Swedish mine.
The Brønnøy Kalk AS limestone and marble quarry in Velfjord, Norway, reached 1Mt in 2025.
Volvo’s Autonomous Solutions (V.A.S) transports the material from a quarry to a crusher, with nine autonomous trucks on a 5km route through long tunnels with steep inclines.
In Boliden’s Garpenberg mine in Sweden, V.A.S autonomous trucks haul the material from a quarry to a dynamic unloading area as part of a dam reinforcement project.
