IOM3 Fellow elected Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales

Professor Michael Fitzpatrick FREng CEng CSci FIMMM was recently elected Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales.

The Learned Society of Wales has over 700 elected Fellows, representing excellence in the sciences, humanities, arts, social sciences and other fields. We are delighted to share that one of our Fellows, Professor Michael Fitzpatrick FREng FLSW CEng CSci FIMMM has recently been elected to the Fellowship for his contribution to the world of learning.

Professor Fitzpatrick is a materials engineer working in the field of structural integrity for safety critical systems. He designs and applies advanced experimental methods for materials characterisation, using large-scale facilities in the UK and internationally. His research has led to advances in life assessment and design enhancements in the aerospace and nuclear power sectors. He has also made critical contributions to life extension programmes for Airbus and the US Air Force.
