2025 Starpack Students Awards Ceremony
The winners of the Starpack Students Competition were announced at a ceremony held at The Barbican Centre in London.
The Starpack Students Competition is a celebration of packaging design that offers solutions to the most pressing problems in sustainable packaging, both for the consumer and producers. The competition invites students to create packaging that focuses on the consumer experience, recycling, and reprocessing to retain as much of the material resource as possible.
The 2025 Starpack Students Awards ceremony was held on 2 July at The Barbican Centre Conservatory, where students, their guests, and tutors joined us for the evening.
The event was chaired by IOM3 Packaging Group Chair Jude Allan MIMMM MInstPkg(Dip), who hosted two roundtable discussions. The first discussed perspectives on sustainable packaging and its challenges in moving from recyclability towards reuse/refill. Panellists for this session were:

- Lee Emery FIMMM, Head of R&D and Sustainable Packaging at Britvic plc
- Paldeep Bhatti, Director of Research and Policy and Industry Council for Packaging and the Environment (INCPEN)
- Darren Wingrove, Project Manager at Logoplaste
The second panel of the evening focused on the power of good design and the opportunities, and careers within the packaging industry.
Panellists for this session were:
- Abbie Smith, Area Sales Manager at WINTER & COMPANY
- Lorraine Wilson, Consultant at Valpak
- Jason Galley, Director & Chief Executive at MPMA

The winners displayed exceptional understanding of the briefs and fulfilled them with innovative and creative packaging solutions. Congratulations to all the winners, runners-up, and participants who were part of the competition.
