Retailer Primark enters partnership to scale recycled textiles
The agreement with American textile company Circ will see recycled polyester used in new clothing.
Circ will produce the recycled polyester from a global textile feedstock.
Its technology is designed to separate and recover polyester and cellulose from polycotton blended textiles, one of the fashion industry’s most widely used and historically difficult-to-recycle material streams.
The partnership will be Primark's first multi-year offtake agreement with a textile-to-textile recycler.
'When a global fashion retailer commits to integrating recycled materials into future collections, it sends a powerful signal across the industry,' says Peter Majeranowski, CEO of Circ.
'The demand is here, the materials are ready, and the opportunity to scale circular material supply chains is real.'
