REC has developed a closed-loop physicochemical recycling process to treat blended polyamide-elastane yarns.

Using mostly waste generated by fast fashion, REC (a french company) aims to provide European textile manufacturers, automotive constructors and other polyamide-consuming industries with recycled polyamide.

Conventional mechanical recycling processes cannot separate these fibres efficiently, often resulting in material degradation or downcycling into lower-value applications, says REC.

The firm is developing a strategic collection programme to source both pre-consumer and post-consumer textile waste.
