With polymer and signmaking industry organisations facing ever greater global challenges, there has never been a greater need for a highly skilled workforce.
This Annual Report from Cognis, the Sector Skills Council, sets out an overview of their activities on behalf of the industries to support them in securing such skills.

Joanna Wolf, Cognis CEO reports "Our key strategic driver, working closely with employers, continues to be the need to address the skills shortages and gaps in the sector; as well as to ensure careers in the industry are seen as attractive. This is particularly pressing given the industry is facing an ageing workforce.
We are responding to employer demand for programmes that meet both their immediate and longer term business needs. To support employers and providers, we’re also developing employer-endorsed standards and qualifications – including apprenticeship frameworks and foundation degrees.                                                                                              Management and leadership skills are much in demand, and here too we are focusing our efforts.
Our partner, the National Skills Academy for Process Industries will continue to ensure high quality work-based learning for these industries, through its accredited provider networks"
