The Oil and Gas Division offers seminars from practising Engineers to support and compliment University and College courses. On the 6th November a seminar was held at the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. Steve Bedford delivered an introduction to drilling and well operations in the oil and gas industry, covering the full well life cycle from design to abandonment under UK legislative requirements, using one of the Division’s educational packs that can be found on the Division website. Calum Myles followed with a presentation covering the latest developments in subsea engineering based on the largest subsea development in the world, the Quad 204 project in the North Atlantic West of Shetland, which came on line earlier in the year. The seminar was targeted at the latest intake of students to the University’s Well Engineering MSc programme to complement their studies. The event was open to all and received interest from Lecturers in the Mechanical Engineering department in respect to project management challenges and how the Quad 204 project addressed these challenges.
