The presentation will describe the regulations relating to the stability of surface mine working particularly quarries and brick pits. 

John will discuss the legislation and how it has evolved over the past 100 years to the compliance for quarry managers, quarry operators, their workforce and the owners with the Quarries Regulations today.

John will also describe the methods of inspection, appraisal and assessment using modern survey techniques, geological modelling and analysis of the structures to ensure stability of quarry faces, stockpiles, waste tips, lagoons and restoration schemes.

The presentation will also touch on planning control over mineral working and the relationship with the Mines and Quarries Regulations.

About the Speaker

John is a Chartered Mining Engineer and Chartered Minerals Surveyor who has 30 years of experience in the mining industry, particularly the heavy clay industry in the UK, Australia and Europe.
