The IOM3 Ceramics Group (formerly the Ceramics Society) is a community of professionals with a shared technical interest in ceramics, led by a team of volunteers. The Ceramics Group is home to the Clay Technology Subgroup (formerly the International Clay Technology Association), the Cementitious Materials Subgroup and the former Ceramics Science Committee. The group provides a peer support network for members and is the source of the expertise that underpins IOM3 activities in this area. On this page you will find the latest news, relevant technical content, professional development opportunities and information about upcoming events.

Clay Technology Subgroup

The mission of the Clay Technology Subgroup (formerly the International Clay Technology Association (ICTa)) is to promote heavy clay technology on a UK and international basis and to provide members with opportunities to broaden their professional outlook, skills and qualifications, thus enabling them to face change with greater confidence and thereby help secure a dynamic future for the heavy clay industry.

Courses to support professional development in the Heavy Clay Industry

IOM3 Training Academy offers courses that are suitable for those just starting out in the industry, those wishing to develop their learning further and those needing to undertake regular training to maintain their CPD record.  Our courses are available in a number of formats and some lead to recognised qualifications from PIABC.

The ICTa Trust also supports a number of courses run by the University of Derby including the Mineral Products higher technfician apprenticeship, university diploma in Clay Studies and foundation degree in Clay Technology.  In addition, those that have already undertaken the apprenticeship or foundation degree can top up to the full BSc(Hons) in Minerals Management.
