Avoiding Failure with Adhesives and Sealants

16 May 2019
London

Organised by the Society for Adhesion and Adhesives, part of the IOM3 Surface Engineering Division

The aim of this symposium is to demonstrate how to successfully use adhesive bonding as a method of joining in engineered structures. It begins by considering some failures and identifying the underlying problems. This is followed by presentations outlining the key stages to be considered in producing a bonded structure including adhesive selection, surface preparation, joint design, experimental validation and joint inspection using non-destructive techniques. These key processes are reinforced by presentations from industry illustrating how adhesive bonding is being successfully incorporated into their products. The symposium should be of interest to all who work with adhesives from development and research through to end use.
