Updated AI guidance for environmental professionals
The Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals has advised on the responsible use of artificial intelligence.
The Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals (ISEP) has set out seven principles for the responsible use and application of artificial intelligence (AI).
The principles are to guide sustainability and environmental professionals in optimising outcomes when using, or deciding not to use, AI technologies.
ISEP CEO Sarah Mukherjee MBE says, 'Trust and reliability are vital for decision makers. In an era where information can be rapidly compiled, it is more important than ever to ensure that there is transparency and integrity embedded into the use of AI.
'As such, ISEP recommends that professionals take accountability for the reliability of their work by signing off with their credentials (e.g. PISEP REnvP, MISEP CEnv). This will help to demonstrate that the advice is given by a qualified professional and underpinned by ISEP’s Code of Professional Practice.'
The advice note will be supplemented by more detailed guidance and use-cases which will provide greater depth on how AI can be used in professional practice to support the delivery of more sustainable outcomes.
