IOM3 member elected Chair of the Nickel Institute

We are delighted to share that Anne Oxley CEng MIMMM has been elected Chairperson of the Nickel Institute.

Anne Oxley CEng MIMMM succeeds the previous Chairperson, Øivind Stenstad, as the new Chairperson of the Nickel Institute.

Anne is the Co-founder and Chief Technical Officer of Brazilian Nickel, a company with sustainability and ethical principles at the forefront of its agenda. Brazilian Nickel is a member of the Nickel Institute (the global association of leading primary nickel producers), and in 2025, Anne became Chair of its Board of Directors.

In 2022, Anne was named one of the 25 inaugural ESG champions by the Natural Resources Forum, particularly for her work on gender diversity and inclusivity in the mining sector. Anne is also a Chartered Metallurgical Engineer from the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College London. She has over 30 years’ experience in the natural resource sector and has been working in nickel and cobalt since 2003. She is also a scientific associate of the Natural History Museum in London, where she continues to contribute to fundamental nickel and cobalt research.

Anne has been a member of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining for nearly 40 years, and we are delighted to congratulate her on her new role.

On her election, Anne says, 'It’s a great honour to be elected as the new Chairperson of the Nickel Institute, the global association of leading nickel producers. The Nickel Institute’s mission is to advocate for the responsible supply of nickel and the sustainable development of the nickel industry. I am very familiar with the Institute’s good work over the years through my time as a board member, and I am excited at the prospect of leading the organisation’s board into the future. Nickel plays a critical role in the transition to a low-carbon future, and I look forward to working closely with the entire team at the Nickel Institute to help drive the transition forward.'
