Coal Authority repairs hotel

Minor subsidence damage at Thoresby Hall, Nottinghamshire, UK, has been repaired inside and out, by the Coal Authority.

The damage is a legacy of Thoresby Colliery, Nottinghamshire’s last coal mine, which opened in 1925 and closed in 2015.

The £150,000 project started at the beginning of March 2020 and was paused when the COVID-19 lockdown was introduced. Contractors returned to site at the end of May, enabling reopening in July.

The Hall is a Grade I listed building and so the work required experienced stonemasons and specialist decorators. Thoresby Hall was built from 1864 to 1871.
