This year's Harold Moore Memorial lecture 'Laser Shock Peening: History of the Method and Current Research' will be presented by the winner of the Tom Bell Surface Engineering Medal 2020, Professor Michael Fitzpatrick, Pro-vice Chancellor, Coventry University.
Michael will review the development of laser shock peening as a surface engineering method, present recent work on novel applications of the technique for enhancement of structural integrity in aerospace structures, and explore current developments aimed at reducing the cost and improving the flexibility and usability of the method in industrial practice
