UKRI and the smart sustainable plastic packaging challenge have previously supported the Plastics Pact which is aimed to reduce plastic packaging waste in each in these four countries.

The latest funding is for technical innovation to help acheive the targets set out in the pacts. It is targeted at specific barriers such as: films and flexible packaging; reusable packaging; new business models, and end market development.

The International Circular Plastics Flagship Competition is delivered by the climate change charity Waste and Resources Action Programme.
