Pledge2Recycle Plastics, part of the UK national plastics charity RECOUP, has designed a recycling survey asking people to share more information about their recycling habits.

In a press release accompanying the launch, the charity says 'it is estimated that an average of 35.8mln plastic bottles are used every day in the UK, but only 19.8mln of those get recycled. This means there are on average 16mln plastic bottles a day not making their way into the recycling bin'.

RECOUP says the survey has been designed to take only a few minutes to complete and is easy to share. It hopes the results of the study can ultimately build a nationwide picture of the items that cause the most confusion when it comes to recycling.

Going forward, and following analysis of the results, Pledge2Recycle Plastics will work with the plastics industry, local authorities and other parties to examine what changes are needed to increase the amount of plastic being recycled.
