Paper-pulp carton straw hits the shelves
Childhood favourite Ribena is to use a fully-recyclable and biodegradable on-pack U-bend straw, made entirely from paper-pulp.
The straw, from Transcend Packaging, Caerphilly, UK, is debuting on cartons in Tesco stores across the UK.
The straws are said to be water-resistant and bendable, able to pierce the foil film on the carton, and have completed successful industrial trials on SIG and Tetrapak lines. The straws can be recycled in their entirety alongside any other paper product.
