Keynote speakers announced for EEC 2021

IOM3 is pleased to announce its three keynote speakers for the upcoming 12th European Electric Steelmaking Conference (EEC 2021) taking place on 13–15 September 2021 as a blended event.

The keynote speakers include:

  • Kate Josephs, Chief Executive of Sheffield City Council
  • Prof Dr Mark Shujun Ma, Vice-Chairman of China Association of small and medium enterprises and well-known Metallurgist, presenting on ‘The Next Generation of Graphite Electrodes and Green Steel Production.
  • Edwin Basson, Director General for World Steel Association

Chris McDonald FIMMM, Chief Executive Officer of the Materials Processing Institute and part of the EEC Organising Committee, says, ‘This conference comes at a crucial time as the European industry is on the brink of the largest ever investment in EAF technology, to decarbonise our sector. Our keynote speakers will help to place these developments in a global context, addressing the needs of both the sector and the supply chain.’

This is an event organised by the steel industry for the steel industry providing a forum at which steelmakers, product specialists, and all other parts of the steel sector supply chain can come together to share information and exchange knowledge on current and future developments across the broad spectrum of electric arc furnace steelmaking and its associated technologies.

We look forward to welcoming our delegates to Sheffield, and understanding that some may face travel restrictions, we will at the same time provide a fully interactive, virtual conference experience, with emphasis on delivering exceptional engagement, networking and knowledge exchange between our on-site and remote participants.
