Dr Yunnan Gao CEng CSci FIMMM receives WCO Corrosion Awareness Honour 2026
IOM3 Fellow receives WCO Corrosion Awareness Honour.
Dr Yunnan Gao CEng CSci FIMMM FICorr has been awarded the World Corrosion Organization (WCO) Corrosion Awareness Honour 2026 in recognition of his outstanding contribution to raising awareness of corrosion and its impact on engineering, infrastructure, safety, and sustainability.
With more than 30 years' experience in materials, corrosion, and asset integrity, Dr Gao has been a strong advocate for corrosion prevention and management across industry, academia, and the wider engineering community. The WCO recognised his commitment to education, professional engagement and international collaboration, as well as his efforts to inspire the next generation of corrosion professionals.
A Fellow of IOM3 and the current President of the Institute of Corrosion (ICorr), Dr Gao has consistently highlighted the role of effective corrosion management in supporting safer, more reliable, and more sustainable infrastructure.
