BHP exceeds 40% female representation in Chile

BHP reports it is the first mining company in Chile to surpass 40% female representation, including in leadership roles.

The firm says this is more than double the national industry average. 

Back in 2016, the company made a commitment to achieve gender balance by 2025. At the time, BHP had only 17.5% female presence globally. 

The company credits the shift in Chile to 'disruptive policies', such as making progress in addressing gender pay gaps, incorporating labour flexibility, strengthening training and talent retention programms, and building infrastructure in operations adapted to the needs of women, among others.
