In part of an ongoing series, the Chairman of the Materials UK Energy Materials Working Group, Derek Allen, reports on its conference held in Loughborough, UK, from 9-10 October.
A two-day conference and exhibition called ‘Energy Materials: Meeting the Challenge’, organised by the Energy Materials Working Group of Materials UK, was held at Loughborough University, UK, on 9-10 October. Sponsored by a number of organisations in the sector, the event is one of a number of steps being taken to implement the recommendations of the Materials UK Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) for energy materials that was formally launched in December 2007. The SRA sets key R&D priorities over the next five, 10 and 20 years.
The Conference engaged over 150 delegates, from research providers, to technology end-users and others who have a serious interest in developing the UK as a centre of excellence in energy materials.
