Alan Auld is one of the foremost shaft sinking experts in the world, having started his career in academia at Newcastle University in the Mining department. Upon leaving academia Alan eventually set up and grew his own tunnelling and shaft sinking consultancy company with offices principally in the UK and Canada before being part of Golder Associates and now WSP. Alan has been involved in many major shaft sinking projects throughout his long career and is always enthusiastic to share with others the latest developments and innovations in shaft sinking technology.
