Operations on the East Coast Main Line (ECML)
Add to calNeville Hall, Newcastle
The ECML has been the premier route of the United Kingdom railway for many years, but privatisation showed this was not always enough to make a profit. This lecture looks at the operation of today’s ECML and how London North Eastern Railway (LNER) play a significant part in moving customers along the route. It also considers the future of the ECML under Great British Railways (GBR) and what this means for LNER.
Dr Linda Wain has been Engineering and Safety Director at LNER for about 4 years, previously being the Head of Engineering. As well as managing day to day operation of the Azuma and IC225 fleets, Linda is leading the introduction of ETCS (digital signalling) operation for LNER. In addition to fleet delivery, Linda has a team of safety professionals who manage the safety systems, processes and data analysis for LNER and competency standards for all safety critical staff. Prior to LNER, Linda was HST Fleet and Depot Manager at Neville Hill for East Midlands Trains and joined British Rail (BR) in 1992 as a Reliability Engineer.
