Abstract
In this lecture, Dr. Yunus Azakli and Dr. Robert Deffley provide insights into their professional journeys and current roles, offering attendees valuable perspectives on career development within advanced materials and manufacturing. The session begins with personal introductions, highlighting the speakers’ career paths and key milestones. This is followed by an overview of the Henry Royce Institute, the UK's national institution for advanced materials research and innovation, outlining its strategic importance and areas of focus. The lecture then narrows in on the Advanced Metals Processing (AMP) activity at the University of Sheffield, detailing the regional capabilities and Technology Platforms that support innovation and collaboration in the sector.
