The Functional Materials Division represents people working with materials that are able to interact with their environment, be it responding to stimuli or acting upon that environment. Examples include piezoelectrics, thermoelectrics, pyroelectrics, ferroelectrics, electroluminescents, photocatalysts and ion conductors.
