Sustainable Batteries - Myths, Realities & Future Opportunities

The South Wales Materials Association (SWMA) is pleased to announce their next meeting which will be delivered by Dr Jenny Baker FIMMM, Battery Storage Lead at Swansea University.

Batteries are key to enable us to store intermittent renewables and move to an electrified low carbon future.  This talk will cover the development of batteries from the first electric vehicles to the current state of the art for vehicles, grid storage and portable electronics. The cradle to cradle impacts of battery production, use and end of life will be presented, highlighting some of the key developments of the last 10 years as well as opportunities to further reduce the environmental impacts of energy storage.

This session will be an hour long with refreshments provided and is open to all.  The lecture will take place in B004 Engineering Central at the Swansea University Bay Campus, but those that are unable to join in person can watch the session via Zoom.  Please book your place by clicking the Book Now button at the top of the page irrespective of how you plan to attend.
