UK Government invests £95mln in UK advanced materials

Funded projects include 3D bioprinting for tissue engineering, plastic recycling robots and nuclear reactor casing.

The government say that advanced materials activity contributes an estimated £14.4bln in gross value to the UK economy a year, equivalent of £72k per employee.

The announcement from the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy follows an initial £258m government investment in advanced materials made over five years.

The funding comes via the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council
