Saint-Gobain starts manufacturing of 'zero-carbon' plasterboard

The construction materials company has begun 100% decarbonised production of plasterboard in Norway.

This has been made possible due to a switch from natural gas to hydroelectric, avoiding what Saint-Gobain says are 23,000t of CO2 emissions per year and saving 30% of energy consumption at the site.

They say that the plant's production capacity in Fredrikstad is also positively affected, increasing by 40%. The €25mln investment included a €7mln subsidy from the Norwegian state enterprise Enova.
