© Minerali IndustrialiMinerali Industriali is said to be the first major mining company to join ResponsibleGlass, a global certification and standards programme aiming to advance more responsible, lower-carbon glass production and sourcing.
The miner produces ~3.5Mt of raw materials per year, claiming to supply a range of international glass manufacturers and industrial customers serving multiple downstream sectors.
Its involvement will reportedly strengthen upstream representation and ensure raw material extraction, processing and sourcing is fully embedded within the industry’s sustainability framework.
The company says it will support ResponsibleGlass to develop transparent, auditable sustainability standards spanning emissions reduction, circularity, worker welfare and responsible sourcing across the glass value chain, from mine to furnace to finished product.
ResponsibleGlass’s international membership also includes Jaguar, NSG Group, WE Soda, Ciner Glass, Stara Glass, Arup and the Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance, spanning upstream mining, manufacturing and end-use applications.
The campaign aims to continue expanding its membership while developing certification criteria and preparing for pilot assessments across the glass value chain.
