The scheme will give up to 400 businesses access to NPL’s measurement experts and facilities and will run until the end of 2020. The work will focus on seeking means of reducing waste in manufacturing process, improving verification of products to avoid unnecessary revisions, as well as speeding up the integration of smart factory technologies for more efficient production lines.

Measurement accuracy can have profound impacts on the robustness of supply chains and underlying engineering. It plays a role in material selection, non-destructive testing techniques, and reducing capital and operating costs.
