Jude Allan

Chair, IOM3 Packaging Society

Jude started as a packaging technologist at the drinks division of Mars before taking the experience of life as a client over to the world of a packaging design agency.

For almost 20 years Jude championed and led the production and creative operations at jonesknowlesrtichie as it grew from a London based packaging design agency to a global design business with offices in London, New York, Singapore and Shanghai.

Jude and her team were responsible for delivering creative packaging designs into market for a wide range of much-loved brands from global favourites to local heroes as well as launching new start-up brands.

Working closely with brands such as Budweiser, Mars, Molton Brown, McVitie’s, Dulux paints and Hippeas, she has a rich and varied experience of the packaging industry, the challenges of innovation and the needs of brand owners to respond to their consumers demands.

 In 2018 she took on the role of chief operating officer at a start-up engineering agency in London with a manufacturing and project management office in Shenzhen, China. She spent a frenetic eighteen months at RPD International professionalising the business and developing the skills of a young group of entrepreneurs and engineers.

Jude now chairs the IOM3 Packaging Group.

Flavie Lowres

Associate Director, Research and Strategic Advisory Group, BRE

Flavie Lowres joined BRE in June 2003, chairs the Construction Materials Group and is a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining. Flavie sits on the steering committee for the development of the Natural Capital of the Value Toolkit and on the Construction Leadership Council indicators group. She is also a visiting lecturer at the University of Bath. As an associate director in the research and strategic advisory group at BRE, Flavie is responsible for running the LCA and circular economy section of the group. She is also leading a project related to biophilic and health and wellbeing of office occupants and is developing the environmental impact evaluation method for a circular building assessment tool. She has been working in the field of materials sustainability since 2007 and has been involved in a number of UK and international projects related to sustainability in the built environment.

Mike Swain BSc(Hons) FIMMM

Managing Director, Pack IDS Ltd | IOM3 Packaging Society

Passionate about packaging, the circular economy and driving forward both the professional and academic activities for packaging.

Currently the Managing Director of Pack IDS Ltd, an independent packaging consultancy, founded in 2017. 30 years experience in Innovation, R&D, Marketing and Manufacturing for international and global branded packaged consumer goods companies, such as P&G, Unilever, Diageo, Tata and Britvic and a track record of consistent delivery of commercially successful, award winning products.  A Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, a member since 1987 and Exec Board member of the IOM3 Packaging Group since 2020.  Industry award winner and a published author of blogs and periodicals, with several patents pending and numerous original creative designs. Involved with biotechnology start-ups, academic research and a visiting lecturer in packaging.

Katherine Adams

Katherine has over 20 years’ experience in sustainability, mostly in the construction sector. Through her work with Alliance for Sustainable Building Products (ASBP), she works closely with organisations such as the Good Homes Alliance, RIBA, CIBSE, PassivHaus Trust and leads on technical and research issues including circularity and materials. She has undertaken many projects on topics such as embodied carbon, waste management, circular economy, measurement at a product, building and organisational level. Examples of current and recent work include a comprehensive guide on embodied carbon for social housing; interpretation of zero avoidable waste and participation on UKGBC’s Whole Life Carbon Task Group for Domestic Retrofit. She has also provided much policy advice, having been seconded to Defra to help develop construction policy. Katherine throughout her career, has been instrumental in raising the importance of construction resource efficiency within the UK through the development of research and the provision of data and has developed influential partnerships and networks and encouraged collaboration across the supply chain.

Charlie Law CEnv MIEMA ICIOB

Charlie has worked in the construction sector for nearly 35 years, and is Head of Construction & ESG at Pallet Loop, a circular economy start-up.

He is also the Founder and Managing Director of Sustainable Construction Solutions, a consultancy that specialises in moving organisations towards a circular economy business model, with a key focus on responsibly sourced timber, and Sustainability Director at Timber Development UK, the new entity formed by the merger of the Timber Trade Federation (TTF) and Timber Research and Development Association (TRADA). He has extensive knowledge of the construction industry through his previous roles in cost management, construction management, training, and sustainability at some of the largest construction organisations in the UK.

Charlie is also a main board director of Timber Development UK, a member of the Grown in Britain Executive, and a member of the Ska technical committee.
