Call for Input: Energy Security and Net Zero Committee inquiry into industrial electrification and decarbonisation
Respond to the call for input by 28 August.
The UK Parliament's Energy Security and Net Zero Committee launched a new inquiry to examine the link between high UK energy costs, industrial decarbonisation and economic growth.
IOM3 members are invited to contribute insight to a response to the inquiry. We welcome contributions from across the materials, minerals and mining sectors, including insights from industry, academia and the wider professional community.
The inquiry is seeking evidence on several key questions, including:
- What is the potential for industry to electrify by 2030 and 2050?
- Would electrification of industry contribute to economic growth?
- What should be included in the Industrial Decarbonisation Strategy?
- What should the Government be doing to incentivise SMEs to decarbonise?
- Is the high cost of electricity the biggest barrier to SME decarbonisation?
- How should Government engage banks and financial services to support SME decarbonisation?
Please send your comments and evidence to the IOM3 Policy team at [email protected] by 23:59 BST, 28 August 2026.
