The house in Houston, Texas, is the second multi-storey 3D printed building in North America that has been made using a COBOD BOD2 gantry printer.

The same week the builder nidus3D in Canada revealed the first two-storey 3D printed building in their home nation.

Printer maker COBOD says the hybridised construction method combines concrete 3D printing with wood framing, which allows the two materials to be used strategically and increase 3D printing in the US - as framing is a common construction method in the country.

The design is a series of printed cores with functional spaces and stairs. These are connected by the wood framing to alternate the interiors.

Designed by HANNAH architects, the house is being printed by formwork provider and scaffolder PERI with the design-build firm CIVE as the general contractor.
