Aluminium producer announces two site closures
Aluminium producer Hydro Extrusions will be closing its Luce anodising site in France and Birtley in the UK.

The Norwegian company will also be curtailing an additional 30,000t of recycling capacity in Puget, France, it announced in its First quarter 2025 results.
Hydro currently has 769 employees in six locations in the UK and 1,671 employees in eight locations in France.
The report states, 'Ongoing weak market activity continues to tighten aluminium scrap supply, pressuring recycling margins and reducing remelt production in Hydro Extrusions and Aluminium Metal Recycling.
'These efforts are accelerating in Aluminium Metal Recycling, with approximately one-third of the targeted 2030 cost reductions expected to be realised already in 2025, just one year into the programme.'
Meanwhile, '...Hydro has started construction of a €180mln state-of-the-art recycling plant in Torija, Spain. The facility will add 120,000t of extrusion ingot capacity and recycle up to 70,000t of post-consumer scrap annually, further advancing the European circular economy.'
