The IOM3 Advisory Council advises the Institute on the development of its strategy and provides a channel for communication between the members and the Institute. The term of office for Advisory Councillors is 4 years with, normally, two meetings per year.

15 seats are elected positions representing different membership grades, overseas members, and the regions of the UK.

Vacancies are available in the following categories

Grades

  • Technician Member (TIMMM)
  • Student Member (UG/PG)

Regions

  • South West & Wales

Members nominated for a UK Regional Vacancy may stand in either the region in which they are resident or in the region of the Local Society in which they are active; although this is normally the same.

UK Regional Advisors, in addition to sitting on the Advisory Council, also sit on the Local Affairs Committee which assists in coordinating the Local Societies and supporting the UK Local Societies, and act as a focal point for the Local Societies in their area.

Every candidate whose name appears on a ballot paper will need to make a statement to help members voting decide on who to support. This statement must be no more than 150 words describing themselves, their expertise and experience. The statement should be enclosed with the nomination form.

Members wishing to be nominated for one of the vacancies should complete the nomination form for the Grades vacancies and/or the nomination form for the Southwest & Wales Regional vacancies. (Valid member login required for both.)

They should also obtain the support of one other member in good standing of the Institute who can either complete the lower part of the form or write separately to the Institute indicating their support for the nomination by indicating their belief that the candidate is a fit and proper person to be a member of the Advisory Council. This should be sent to Anita Horton [email protected] before the closing date

Nominations close on Monday 11 August and online elections (where we have more than one eligible candidate) will run from Monday 18 August to Monday 1 September.

We are particularly keen to improve the diversity of our volunteer cadre. We are happy to arrange informal conversations for anyone who wants to find out more about any of the posts and the process

Don’t meet every requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of colour are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At IOM3 we are building a diverse, inclusive and authentic Institute. If you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the role description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may just be the right candidate for this or other roles.
