In October 2024, the UK Government launched a consultation on its new industrial strategy, Invest 2035. This is focused on long-term growth and indentifies eight high-growth sectors, including advanced manufacturing, clean energy and life science. All of them depend on materials, and the people who work with them. We expect the actual strategy to be published before the summer break.
This session explores what the strategy means for our sectors. How can we make sure maerials are recognised and supported? What needs to change, and where should we focus?

We can't keep taking, using and throwing away. The shift to a circular economy means rethinking how we use resources, keep them in use and design out waste.
The UK's upcoming Circular Economy Strategy (due this autumn) could change the way we do business for good. This session looks at what's on the horizon and how are sectors can lead the way.

Our future depends on people. But the UK's skills pipeline isn't keeping up with demand. Gaps are growing and routes into industry are too narrow.
This session looks at what's being done, including the launch of Skills England, and how we can help build a system that works for everyone.

Materials are everywhere, supporting everything from clean energy and transport to defence and healthcare. But we need a clear vision to stay ahead. The new Henry Royce Institute led National Materials Innovation Strategy aims to put materials at the centre of UK innovation, while the expected Critical Minerals Strategy from the new government looks to secure the supplies we rely on.
This session brings together experts to look at where we are, what's coming next and what it means for our community.
