Plans to transfer defence-borne intellectual property into wider civilian use
Ploughshare will work with Leonardo UK Ltd to commercialise the latter's technology in civilian applications.
Leonardo invests in R&D across electrooptics, antenna design, sensors, communications, cyber security, composite materials, autonomous systems and many other fields, which the firm believes could deliver benefits beyond defence applications.
Ploughshare has been the UK's Ministry of Defence’s commercialisation partner for over 20 years.
The partnership will build a commercialisation engine to explore untapped intellectual property (IP) and value within Leonardo’s technology suite.
This will prioritise innovations with the most potential and seek to turn validated IP into revenue by putting them on the market and help launch disruptive ideas and innovations into new ventures.
Leonardo is a founding member of the Technology and Growth Alliance, which was convened by Ploughshare with the aim of unlocking the full value of defence innovation and translating it into growth and impact for the UK.
