Rolls-Royce delivers 'first' emergency power generators with Environmental Product Declarations
The firm claims to be one of the first engine manufacturers to verify and publish the environmental footprint of emergency power generators for data centres.
The mtu emergency power generators with verified Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are delivered to a European data centre operator, in collaboration with Sphera.
The EPDs are published in the international EPD system (Environdec).
The reports document the entire environmental lifecycle of the mtu 16V 4000 DS2500 and 10V 1600 systems – from raw material extraction to production and use, to end-of-life recycling.
mtu emergency power generators can reportedly be operated with 90% fewer emissions and are already approved for operation with hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) and e-fuels.
The EPD International System is an independent, globally recognised organisation based on the ISO 14025 and EN 50693 standards.
