IOM3 holds Annual General Meeting online

The 2020 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining was held on 3 September 2020 virtually via Zoom for the first time.

With more than 140 attendees, the AGM was led by IOM3 President Professor Serena Best CBE FREng FIMMM and CEO Dr Colin Church CEnv FIMMM discussing the progress and achievements in 2019, an overview of 2020 to date as well as an interactive Q&A session and sign off the Annual Report and Financial Statements for 2019. The Institute received 61 valid votes for and one vote against.

‘I was delighted that we were able to reach so many of our members this year and that there was such excellent participation in the meeting. We shall certainly consider using this format again in the future and hope to welcome even higher numbers of members in 2021,’ said Professor Serena Best.

A number of questions were asked during the AGM, ranging from key actions from the 2019 members’ survey to what might be expected from the new website and rebranding coming later in the autumn of 2020. A full document with all the questions asked at the AGM has been made available online. Many of the questions were answered live and can be accessed via the recording. Where time did not allow for a live answer, one is provided in the document.
