Reminder: Powder metallurgy fabrication of refractory High Entropy Alloys
Add to calRoom EC1-12, Frank Whittle Building, Coventry University, 3 Gulson Road CV1 2JH
There is still time to register for the first event of our 2026/27 season.
Deepan Xavier is a Doctoral Researcher at Coventry University's Centre for Manufacturing and Materials. His presentation will expand on a poster he recently presented at the Beyond Nickel-Based Superalloys V conference in Birmingham, an event he attended with sponsorship from CWMS - so we look forward to as many CWMS members as possible coming to take advantage of our investment!
Deepan's presentation will discuss the development of refractory high-entropy alloys (RHEAs) for next-generation high-temperature applications using energy-efficient powder metallurgy routes. The work focuses on the consolidation of FFC-derived AlMoNbTaTiZr powders using Field Assisted Sintering Technology (FAST), and examines the relationships between processing conditions, phase evolution, grain growth behaviour, and mechanical response. The talk will also highlight how advanced characterisation techniques such as EBSD and XRD can be used to understand microstructural development in complex alloy systems and support the design of future high-performance materials.
Agenda
18:00 Refreshments and networking
18:30 Welcome, introduction and update on CWMS planning for the new season
18:35 Lecture: Powder metallurgy fabrication of refractory High Entropy Alloys followed by Q&A
20:00 Close
The event will be in person but the presentation will also be available online. Please register for the event via the following link. This will enable us to plan refreshments for those attending in person and, for those attending online, it will provide us with your email address to which we will send a Zoom link a few days before the event. www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/powder-metallurgy-fabrication-of-refractory-high-entropy-alloys-tickets-2003125713933?aff=oddtdtcreator
