The study of phase equilibria and thermodynamics is by no means a new branch of Materials Science but it has been quite some time since it was treated as a subject area in its own right. Research work in this important field continues but now usually as part of much larger research programmes. Consequently, those working in the field are disconnected from one another with little communication between research groups working in essentially the same field. The main aim of this series of symposia is to bring together all those with an interest in phase equilibria and thermodynamics (both experimental and computational), and all associated fields of study in order to create a UK community and a forum to discuss research. By encouraging interaction between researchers with these common interests, it is expected that the community will grow and once again become an important force on the International Stage.

This year, for the first time, the event will be run virtually and over 3 half-day sessions. Although it is intended that this seminar will be of interest to the established researcher, it is aimed particularly at those at the beginning of their research career, giving them an early opportunity to experience presenting at a conference. However, the meeting is by no means exclusive to academia, with those working in industry being strongly encouraged to attend.
