NMG Lunchtime Seminar Series: Focusing on Robotics

robot plant garden - nmg focus on robotics

You are invited to join us for our monthly virtual event, where the focus will be on Robotics

You will hear from

Prof. Dr Fabian Meder

Associate Professor in Physical Chemistry, The BioRobotics Institute, Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies, Pisa, Italy

Energy conversion in nature through soft materials and biohybrid systems

  • Energy autonomy for robots and sensors requires ways to harvest energy from their environment.
  • In my talk, I will present how surfaces in nature can be used for energy conversion. By combining them with soft materials, we can extract electricity from passive motion of plant leaves or droplets sliding down a surface, sufficient to power robotic parts.
