NMA Lunchtime Seminars: Focus on Natural Materials in Composites
You are invited to join us for our monthly virtual event where we will be focusing on natural materials in composites. This event will explore how natural materials provide a promising, greener option for composite reinforcements; whilst delving into how we can overcome the challenges involved in designing and manufacturing composites using natural fibres.
You will hear from:
- Tasmin Boam, Development Engineer, Composites Evolution will talk about flax: a greener option for composite reinforcement
- Hom Dhakal, Professor of Mechanical Engineering, University of Portsmouth will talk about sustainable lightweight natural fibre composites: driving us closer to greener transport
- Callum Hill, Director, JCH Industrial Ecology Ltd will talk about why natural fibres reinforced composites are brittle.
- John Summerscales, Professor of Composites Engineering, University of Plymouth will talk about the prediction of the moduli and strengths of natural fibre polymer matrix composites.
The interactive seminar will also provide the opportunity for Question and Answers and we often hang around at the end for a fun and engaging panel session.
